Full-Time Handyman – Private Household | Surrey, London

A private family is seeking an experienced, reliable, and proactive Full-Time Handyman to oversee the maintenance and smooth day-to-day operation of their residence. This is a permanent, full-time, live-out position for a practical and trustworthy professional who can work independently and take pride in maintaining a high standard throughout the property.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in private households or luxury properties and, in addition, possess strong practical skills across a wide range of maintenance tasks. Furthermore, the successful applicant will be organised, discreet, and proactive, with the ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.

• Salary: £40,000 per year

• Working Days: 5 days per week
• Working Hours: 9 hours per day
• Languages: English required; German is an advantage

Duties:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the property. In particular, duties will include:

• Carrying out general property maintenance, repairs, and improvements
• Performing basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks
• Conducting regular property inspections and identifying any maintenance issues
• Coordinating and supervising external contractors when required
• Maintaining household equipment and arranging servicing where necessary
• Assisting with the upkeep of outdoor areas, including the garden and terraces
• Ensuring that all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
• Monitoring household supplies, tools, and maintenance equipment and replenishing items when required
• Responding promptly to maintenance requests and unexpected issues
• Supporting the family with occasional errands and other practical tasks as required
• Liaising with contractors and service providers to ensure work is completed correctly and on schedule

Requirements:

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Handyman, preferably within private households or luxury properties
• Strong practical and problem-solving skills
• A valid UK driving licence
• Excellent checkable references from previous employers
• The legal right to work in the UK
• Good spoken English
• German language skills would be an advantage
